“On the other hand, the research on love is reflected in the author’s intention to generalize the situations she portrays and to embed her work in a broader social context. Gulbe thus examines love in connection with corporeality and sexuality. In addition to filling the exhibition space with a synthetic pheromone scent so as to underscore the physical aspect of attraction, the artist focuses on the naked human body as one of the dominant motifs of the series. In doing so, she puts a particular emphasis on reckoning with practices of disciplining girls’ bodies and manipulating their visual representations.” Barbara Gregov
